Graphene-Superconductor hybrid quantum devices
Details : Graphene is a monatomic layer of carbon atoms arranged on a honeycomb lattice. Since its discovery in 2004, graphene with Dirac-fermionic band structure has provided an ideal and versatile platform to study the interplay between relativistic Dirac fermions and superconductivity [1]. In clear contrast to the case of normal metals, electrostatic gate tunability in graphene with atomic thickness allows unique control over the carrier density and type. Proximity coupling of a superconducting electrode to graphene induces a unique coherent superconducting order in the graphene layer near the interface, which is often the result of the various special normal-state physical characteristics of graphene.
